We are socialising!
That means we have had keynote, tech talk, introduction, guest speech by Jaakko, theme introduction…in fact all the speaking. So while people are getting to know each other, here is the theme and constraints as presented to the Helsinki jammers.
For jammers’ reference, refer to this slideshow: http://www.slideshare.net/secret/LnEQPUd0eR9Thz
The event is getting closer and closer! Exciting! Local info letters will be sent to all participants today by email. Remember to have a good night sleep tonight so you have the strength to beaver away at game developing for the whole weekend. See you there!
Confirmation letters have now been sent to accepted jammers. If you have applied to Finnish Game Jam but have not received an e-mail with additional info and payment instructions, contact annakaisa.kultima@uta.fi.
While waiting for the event or pondering whether to register or not, check out some pictures from last year’s Global Game Jam and browse and play last year’s games to get into the mood!
Remember, the registration closes on Monday, 25th of January at 16:00, so don’t take too much time deciding!
FGJ proudly announces that Nokia is now an official Gold Sponsor of FGJ2010. Thank you Nokia!
We are happy to announce that Paf has joined as our new Gold Sponsor. They are also participating FGJ2010 in Helsinki. A warm welcome!
The Paf gaming portfolio in its entirety comprises operation of slot machines, casinos, betting, bingo, lotteries, totalisators, and amusement games. Paf is an association governed by public law, whose goal is to raise money for the public good by offering gaming to the public.
YleX interviewed Petra Turkama and Ben Cowley from the Helsinki site about game jamming. Listen the interview online from here: http://ylex.yle.fi/radio/ohjelmat/ylex-tanaan/pelimies-ja-uutiset/game-jam-kokoaa-pelintekijat-yhteen
There are however some remarks in the interview that should be corrected. On the contrary to the interview, there is indeed an age limit of 18 years, the event does have an entrance fee of 15€ for students and 30€ for others, and there are prizes. Even though the event is pretty open, you should have at least some experience or knowledge in some area of game development. In addition, it is our wish that most of the tools would be downloaded and installed before the event, not after the constraints have been given.
In any case, the event will definitely be a success!
Pelaaja, Finland’s biggest video game magazine, is now the official media partner of FGJ2010. Check the magazine (in Finnish) here: http://pelaajalehti.com/
Just a mere 10 days until kick-off! There is still time to hop aboard to Finnish Game Jam, so do it now! Check the Registration page for details. Don’t miss this massive game development event, where already 129 locations from 37 countries have signed on to the world of innovation and experimentation.
